OT Kits?

Keeping up with your child's development can be challenging. Finding accurate and relavent information can be even more difficult with a parent's busy (and sometimes overwhelming) schedule. Our curated OT activity kits are here to simplify things for you.

Occupational therapists assess a number of different areas that support a child’s ability to successfully function and perform their daily ‘occupations’ across environments. For children, their ‘jobs of living’ include learning to be independent, being part of a family, playing with others, being a student, participating in leisure activities, and many more. These “occupations” involve foundational skills and they build upon these skills throughout their development.

We learn and experience the world around us through our senses. Sensory processing refers to the way in which a child registers and perceives information through a variety of sensory channels including the visual, auditory, tactile, oral, proprioceptive, and vestibular systems. Such sensory input provides the child with information about his/her environment so that he/she may respond purposefully and successfully to environmental demands. Children may demonstrate difficulty modulating sensory input resulting in a fluctuating state of arousal making focusing and attending to tasks challenging, as well as difficulty filtering environmental stimuli. Also, these children may have decreased balance and equilibrium responses, decreased sense of body in space, poor bilateral coordination, midline crossing, and ocular-motor skills.

Each OT Kit comes with easy to follow picture instructions for your child to lead the activity. Parent assistance may be necessary but the goal is to foster independence, encourage learning, and have fun! Parent instructions are also provided with additional tips and tricks to help enhance the Kit activity.

All Children. OT Kits are specifically designed for children of all abilities. Each Kit targets multiple sensory systems, as well as sensory motor developmental milestones for children. They can be used as both a supplemental tool for children currently receiving occupational therapy, as well as for children looking for a fun and entertaining way to receive beneficial growth, development, and sensory input.

OT Kits are created by a group of national board certified and registered occupational therapists (OT). Owner and lead therapist Corbin Gaucher, MS, OTR/L created OT Kits to help you turn playtime in to a productive, sensory-rich experience for all children to learn and grow.
